How we collect this information ?
As you can see, in this page you can get a list and a short description of every SIT from other locations around the globe, we have create a twitter list in our SITBarcelona twitter account, you can check it here: @Sitbarcelona -> Other SIT’s
Once a month every, we have scheduled a cron job with python program that scrap the information of this list and collect the public information from twitter, we collect “banner picture”, “name”, “Description”, “location”, “twitter creation date”, “Followers” and “website”.
This python program collects this information and updates the website with the information and format that you can see in this page. If you see that there is something wrong or you would like to update anything, you only need to update the information in your twitter account and wait for the next job run.
If you are interesting to do something similar, you can check “tweepy” and “mysql.connector” python libraries.
